Permanent Makeup
Eyebrows: Using a soft, "powdery" technique or hair like strokes with a blending of multiple colors for the most natural of results. At PCA, extreme care is taken in the shaping and symmetry of your brows. No "cookie-cutter" eyebrows! Your face deserves an artist who is able to shape the BEST eyebrows for your individual facial features. Symmetry is one of the four tenets of beauty; the more symmetrical your brows, the more beautiful you appear.
What you need to know: While hair strokes can look fabulous, they don't always take well on everyone's skin type, (sometimes looking patchy, or like unnatural stripes), they usually take multiple visits to achieve, and they DO fade faster.
Eyeliner: At PCA, eyeliner always starts with filling in the lash base for a thicker, lush, more defined appearance. How much thicker or elongated outside the lash base is decided on an individual basis between the client and the nurse, with a focus on creating definition and "lift", to the degree that is SAFE; aesthetically and medically.
What you need to know: Just because it looks good with a pencil, doesn't mean it's safe or advisable to do with a needle... you need someone with the experience to know the difference.
Also, over the counter numbing creams are NOT approved to be used in or around the eye! They will cause chemical burns IN the eye. Only prescription ophthalmically-approved anesthetics are safe when used by someone who is medically licensed and trained.
In addition, there are currently 5 states in the US who ONLY allow someone who is medically licensed to tattoo within 1 inch of the eye. California regulation is very liberal; buyer beware.
Full lip: Is the filling in the entire "vermilia" (colored part) of the lip. Additional fullness can be safely achieved, as well as correcting asymmetry, by extending just outside the vermilion border. Done with caution by experienced hands, this can give you fuller appearing lips; a less expensive alternative to fillers.
Lip liner: In 1995, Barbara d'Artenay developed specialized techniques of applying lip liner to give a
surprisingly natural result. Rather than looking like a harsh line around the lip, this technique gives clear definition around the outer portion of the lip, but subtly blends into the interior. Not intended to cover the entire lip, this is a more cost effective option for those with smaller lips, or desiring a very natural color.
What you need to know: With the right anesthetics and techniques, the lips can be a virtually painless procedure with minimal bleeding, minimal "scabbing", and excellent retention and longevity of the pigment. Also, pre-treatment with an anti-viral may be required if you have a history of cold sores or fever blisters to prevent an eruption. Ask for more information ...
In addition, there are many medications and supplements which can contribute to an increase in bleeding, which therefore compromises how well your pigment takes. Ask for more information...
And one more note: A warning about over the counter lip "plumpers" that use irritants like cinnamon to puff up the lips: These irritants can cause unsightly and irreversible broken capillaries around the edge of the lips! DO NOT USE these for at least 2 weeks before your procedure, and ANY use is cautioned.
